The Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) program provides commuters who choose an alternative commute, including carpool, vanpool, transit, bike, or walk, with a ride home in case of an emergency. Commuters can decide the best method for getting home from work including taxi, rideshare such as Lyft Standard or UberX, rental car, car share, or transit.

To register for the GRH program, please complete the form below.

You will receive enrollment confirmation within three business days following successful submission of the registration form.

Registered participants may be reimbursed for rides home or to the location of their parked car, under one or more of the qualifying circumstances:

1. Personal or family emergency
2. Unexpected overtime
3. Carpool or vanpool ride is unavailable due to unexpected schedule changes or vehicle breakdown
4. Being stranded at work due to a bike problem, such as a flat tire, mechanical failure, vandalism or theft

Rides must originate from your work location and may only be used to get home or to the location of the participant’s parked car (e.g., a park-and-ride lot, carpool partner’s home).

You cannot use the program for transit service disruptions and/or delays, weather-related events, a ride to work, personal errands, scheduled appointments, business-related travel, non-emergency side trips, or any other situation not included in the qualifying circumstances. Participants must work in San Diego County. Any trip taken for one of these purposes or without registering in advance of paying for an emergency ride home will not be reimbursed by SANDAG.
