Rideshare Month - October 2015

October is Rideshare Month, when we celebrate the many benefits of commute alternatives. Rather than driving alone, choose a carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, or transit commute and get there together! Save money; go green; and socialize, work, rest, read, or text while someone else drives.

get there together - join the Rideshare 2015 Challenge

Commuters. Join the challenge and see how ridesharing can improve your commute. Create an iCommute account, log eligible commute trips throughout October in TripTracker, and claim the regional Rideshare Challenge incentive to be entered to win weekly prizes, including one grand prize - a new bike! Carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, and transit commute trips are eligible. You’ll earn an additional chance to win each day you log an eligible commute trip in October.

Employers. Join the rideshare excitement by registering for the Rideshare Challenge and encouraging your employees to get there together. Registration opens on  Tuesday, August 11. It’s a fun way to support your organization’s transportation, parking, or environmental/green goals. Ridesharing can save your employees time and money, help reduce stress, and make them eligible for prizes.

Employers that participate in the Rideshare Challenge take part in a friendly competition among organizations in similar size categories, where employees are encouraged to log their carpool, vanpool, walk, bike, or transit trips to earn points. The best part is that iCommute provides resources to all participants at no cost. Employers that join the challenge and encourage employees to rideshare can earn points toward the iCommute Diamond Awards too.

The winning employer in each size category will receive recognition in a print ad in a regional newspaper, on iCommute social media, and on the iCommute website; a commemorative plaque; and mention in a SANDAG press release.
