If two heads are better than one, just imagine what seven can do! Vanpools are a comfortable, cost-effective, and convenient way for groups of seven to 15 people to share their ride to work. Vanpools reduce stress, help the environment, and save you money.
Start a vanpool through your employer or create one of your own. You or your employer can lease a vehicle through one of iCommute’s contracted vanpool vendors and receive up to $400 per month to help offset the cost of the lease. On average, vanpool participants cut their commute costs by many hundreds of dollars per year. Typical savings:
To get started, sign up with RideMatcher and select a recurring trip. Fill out your starting and ending destinations and receive a customized list of others who work and live near you. You can also join an existing vanpool by viewing the list of currently available vanpool seats.
Through our contracted vendors, Enterprise Rideshare and VPSI, vanpool drivers are offered month-to-month leases on passenger vans that include maintenance, roadside assistance, and insurance costs. Drivers have access to the van after work hours and can even log personal miles.
With RideMatcher, your rideshare partner is just a click away. RideMatcher is your green light to enjoy all the benefits of vanpooling. RideMatcher is a database of thousands of commuters looking for rideshare partners just like you – friends, neighbors, and co-workers who live and work where you do. To get your free, personalized list of potential rideshare partners – or to look for seats on existing vanpools – sign up for RideMatcher today.
Log your trips. Track your savings. Get more green. If you vanpool, you can track the savings to your wallet and the environment with TripTracker, the companion tool to RideMatcher. TripTracker will allow you to log your trips and instantly see your cost and environmental savings – even if you don’t want to ride match online.
By going green you can actually get green. By using TripTracker on a routine basis, you’ll be eligible to be entered in monthly prize drawings. The more you log your trips with TripTracker, the more your savings will add up. Plus, use TripTracker to log your vanpool trips and receive your monthly $400 subsidy. Not only will you see what you save, but you’ll help to prove that the San Diego region is growing greener over time. That can literally mean more funding for transportation programs like new HOV lanes.
No worries. You won’t get stranded. Depending on where you live and work, you could be eligible for financial incentives and benefits provided by your employer, such as payroll tax benefits available to vanpoolers. By vanpooling three or more times each week, you also can take advantage of the Guaranteed Ride Home program, ensuring that you will always be able to get home when you need to. Vanpooling makes your commute easier and puts money back in your pocket. Plus, vanpools can take advantage of HOV lanes so your commute is quicker.
Just park and go. Conveniently located throughout the region, Park and Ride lots are free and a great place to meet your carpool, vanpool, bus, or Trolley.
All but a few lots are linked directly to the California Highway Patrol and others have public phones nearby.
