Employer Services

Commute alternatives can be good for the planet and your bottom line. iCommute provides free assistance and tools to help your company or organization design and implement customized commuter programs that meet its financial and environmental goals.

Commuter programs for employees can include carpooling, vanpooling, biking to work, taking transit, flextime, and working from home. The benefits to your company and your employees are many. Even if they participate only once a week, it can make a big difference in employee wellness, productivity, and retention, not to mention the cost savings of tax benefits and reduced parking demand.

Get Started Today. iCommute offers employers a Commuter Benefit Program Starter Kit to assist San Diego-area employers in developing and implementing a commuter policy and benefits program. The kit contains a simple, three-step process to help you identify your needs, design a custom program, and roll it out to your company’s employees. The kit’s CD-ROM includes sample policies, forms, tax information, commuter program descriptions, and examples from other companies and agencies. It also includes advice on how to market your new commuter program to your employees, as well as tip sheets to pass on to your employees about carpooling, vanpooling, using public transit, and biking or walking to work.

Customize Your Program. Many of iCommute’s features and services are easy and inexpensive to include in, or add to, your company’s commuter program, including:

RideMatcher – Instant online ride matching to help employees find carpool, vanpool and bike partners to share the ride.

Vanpool Subsidy Program – Including a $400 monthly discount per vanpool.

Guaranteed Ride Home – To ensure that your employees can get home quickly in case of a missed connection or emergency.

Tax Benefits – By subsidizing employees’ vanpooling and/or transit costs – or letting employees pay via pre-tax benefits – employers and employees can both save.

Commute Cost Calculator - To help employees calculate the real costs of their commute.

Transit Pass Discounts – Employers can buy transit passes in bulk at a discounted rate through MTS’ EcoPass Program and pass those savings along to employees.

Telework Program Assistance – iCommute can help you start or expand a telework program that allows employees to work from home one or more days per week.

Preferential Parking – Reserved parking for carpools and vanpools is an easy, cost-effective way to reward employees and reduce your overall parking demand.

Employee Transportation Coordinator - We can help to train one or more of your employees to serve as your in-house employee transportation coordinator (ETC) to implement a commuter benefits program.

Employee Outreach – iCommute can help you provide and design onsite events, marketing materials, and promotional incentives that are customized to your workplace. iCommute staff is available to participate in your employee benefits fairs.
