Bike to Work

It’s How We Roll. With an average temperature of 71 degrees, the San Diego region is one of the best places in the country for people to commute on two wheels. Biking to work can save you money and really help the environment.

iCommute will help you find a ride partner, as well as connect you with a free bike locker and map out the best route to get you where you want to go.

Get Started Today. iCommute has the information you need to get moving!

Find a Bike Locker or Ride Partner Online. Want to find the right person to bike with to work? RideMatcher is the convenient online tool that will help you make the connection quickly and easily. RideMatcher provides a complete list of more than 1,000 bike lockers in the San Diego region. Simply select an available bike locker from the list or use the online maps to find a locker in your area. RideMatcher even helps you start the bike locker application process online.

Get Credit for Your Commute. If you commute by bicycle, you could be eligible for a monthly financial incentive through your employer. Check out our employer incentives page for more information.

Log your Trips. Track your Savings. Get more Green. If you bike to work, you can track the savings to your wallet and the environment with TripTracker, the companion tool to RideMatcher. TripTracker will allow you to log your trips and instantly see your cost and environmental savings – even if you don’t want to ride match online.

By going green you can actually get green. By using TripTracker on a routine basis, you’ll be eligible to be entered in monthly prize drawings. Plus, the more you log your trips with TripTracker, the more your savings will add up. Not only will you see what you save, but you’ll help to prove that the San Diego region is growing greener over time. That can literally mean more funding for transportation programs like new or improved bike lanes.

Bicycling Events. iCommute also oversees Bike to Work Day each May. At last year’s event, more than 5,000 cyclists used pedal power to get to work. For information on other bike events in the region, visit the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition events page.

San Diego Regional Bicycle Plan. Want to know what bicycle facilities are planned for the region? SANDAG and our Bike and Ped Committee are developing the San Diego Regional Bicycle Plan to evaluate the current bicycle network and propose improvements.
